My GLO is the BEST
Am I the only one who doesn't like rush shirts/slogans/taglines which attempt to proclaim the superiority of one's GLO? While I love and adore Gamma Phi Beta, and of course think it is a top-notch org., I've never felt the need to proclaim "We are better than you!" - but I see lots of slogans which do just that. Perhaps I'm hopelessly idealistic, but I believe that every member is entitled to pride in their org, and that true superiority is seen in the modest, quiet pride taken in your glo and your embodying of the ideals of your founders. When I see these slogans, I can't help but think they betray a certain insecurity. If you are superior, would you have to yell it from the housetops - wouldn't it be obvious? Pride is good - but do you have to compare yourself with other GLOs?
What do you think? |
I agree. At my campus there are a few girls from some chapters that wear such shirts but they are looked down upon. My campus was always trying to foster Panhellenic spirit, and shirts like that obviously do not do so.
Also I don't think a chapter needs a shirt to show that they are the best, IMO that just shows that they are arrogant! |
I second it. When I hear someone or some group say that "we're the best", it makes me feel as if they are seeking validation.

I like 'best' shirts
I do not own any, but I do not mind those kind of shirts. If I wear a shirt that says AKA is the best, I am not taking away from what another person thinks about thier org. I chose AKA because I felt it would be the best fit for me, not another person. So AKA might not be the best for everyone, but it is for me.
I am glad they love thier org as much as I do my own. I think of it as freindly competition. Some of us NPHCers, at my school, try to one up each other in terms of service (in addition to stepshows). |

There's a difference between "We rule!" and "We rule, and you suck!"
One chapter I know had shirts that said "Stand in our shoes or stand in our shadows" I think it's pushing, or crossing, the line between pride and snobbery. |
I think this is one of those NPC/NPHC things....
We have songs from our official songbook which say "Don't let my boy go Kappa/I'd rather see him dead"...... it's all in fun, to me. |

because its a holiday and i can argue this all night... with shirts like that, youre not pinpointing any one org. all 3/4 other orgs (or in NPC case, all other 25 orgs) are getting hated on equal opporunity. its when you start calling particular orgs out it gets messy and and what not. whoever has the audacity to, in so few words, put "your org sucks, and mine doesnt" on a shirt has issues and their chapter needs to check them. |
Delta is the best..I'll put it on a shirt, a train, a plane, or an automobile...lol...;)
Yeah I agree with the NPHC/NPC thing..we rib each other but its all good...as long as it doesn't get disrespectful no one gets too bothered..... |

That line from your song is funny. Just to point out (not to you Senusret, of course;)) we all (NPHC) have songs/chants/whatever that say I didn't wanna pledge XYZ because they are not as good as us (to some degree). Look at the threads that have been started saying "WHat would you do if your son/daught did something else". |
|
there's a Zeta song that goes... the beat of my heart is crying Z-Phi B, cuz everybody knows we're the best sorority... and I agree
as long as lines aren't crossed and all parties know its all for sh*t and giggles, jocking is alright with me. we might be in different orgs but its love all around |
