Running into a sister/brother
Many on this site already know that I am deployed to the middle east. Well its X-mas and like and crazy Army Officer I went to the gym to get my work out on. I ran into someone wearing a Purdue Sweatshirt. We started chatting since we both went to Purdue. She asked me if I was in a sorority and I said yes, Gamma Phi Beta. And she responded Delta Iota. Turns out she was about 4 yrs behind me but we are sisters. it was strange to be deployed and run into a sister.

Those Gamma Phis are everywhere! Wishing you, our sister, and all of you deployed a safe new year, which sees you return safely home!

That is awesome!!!!!! Your story tugged at my heart strings a bit as one of my aunts is a Gamma Phi. I love hearing stories that show us that we are all connected to each other somehow!!! What a neat thing to think of in this Holiday Season!!!!!!
Thank you for serving your country, and my prayers are with you for your safety! |
Wishes for a safe & happy Holiday season!
It's great running into a sister (or a brother) it must have been even better to run into one somewhere so unlikely! |
thank you for your service. so glad you found a sister where you are! merry christmas and best wishes for a happy new year.

What a great story!! Thank you for all that you do for our country; your service is appreciated! Here's hoping you have a safe and happy holiday and new year.

Keep you eyes and ears open. From reading several of our media, there are a few SAE's over there.
And from what I recall reading here in GC, just about every other GLO is represented. Hoping that you and yours get home safe. Jon |
Thank you so much for your service to this country! Merry Christmas and stay safe!
|
And I have a couple of Gamma Phi Beta friends! Best wishes and God's blessings on you! Many thanks for your service!

It's so neat running into a sister (especially one of the 'slightly older' kind ;) in random places.
When I was a collegian, my chapter went on a Valentines' Day Dinner Cruise with the TKEs. Of course, being the attention grabbing girls we were, we made sure the cruise emcee gave a special 'shout out' to the Alpha Gams. Once that happened, a woman from all the way on the other side of the room stood, waved, and yelled "I'm an Alpha Gam too!" Turns out she's from Alpha Beta - University of Michigan...initiated some time in the 50s, I believe. Every Alpha Gam on that boat that night got a picture with her and she looked like she was having a good time! Anyway, afboiler, thank you once again for serving our country. Stay safe and God speed, Triad sister! |
Wasn't one of my sisters but another Gamma Phi -- ran into her at a career fair of all places! She was an alumni of my college and we got to talking about sororities, and there it came out! Think she was disappointed when I wasn't one though. =P

What a great story! Stay safe, afboiler, and thanks for everything you're doing!!
I used to give campus tours and signed up to do a special bus tour for a 40th reunion. Turns out five of the women on the bus were Delta Gammas! We shared stories, took pictures, and I gave them directions to the new chapter house after the tour was over. |
afboiler, I echo one and all for you to stay safe!
Yep, there are a lot of GLOs in both wars. Two of my guys met up with each other and sent Pix back so I could send out to our chapter listing. Just wear a little something and see how many other Greeks may show up. Nice to have some people that you can just talk with!:) |
