Nickelodeon is considering a special for its young audience about sex and love following the news that 16-year-old "Zoey 101" star Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.
The television network has made no announcement about the future of "Zoey 101," its popular program aimed primarily at youngsters aged 9-14. Filming for the show's fourth and final season has finished, and episodes are scheduled to begin airing in February.
For the special, Nickelodeon said it's talking with Linda Ellerbee, the veteran newswoman who has stepped in frequently in the past with shows on talking to children about difficult issues in the news. She's done shows about same-sex parents, AIDS, the Columbine shooting and President Clinton's impeachment scandal.

I used to LOVE Linda Ellerbee on 'Nick News W5'!

Linda Ellerbee and Bill Clinton did a really good show on Nick about childhood obesity. I think this would be a wise way for Nickelodeon to handle it.

I agree it would be a good idea. Linda Ellerbee automatically came to my mind when I saw this headline. Yes, I used to watch Nick News all the time back when I was a teen.

This is a good idea. Show the REAL consequences of having sex, good bad and ugly of it. If we stopped pretending as if it didnt happen or that everyone will and does wait until they are married, maybe the STD rate among teens would actually decrease. I will be watching. I Heart Linda Ellerbee, she talks to kids as they should be spoken to: like intelligent people, not mindless hormone factories.

My problem with it is that a lot of really young kids watch Nickelodeon, I think I quit watching it around 7th grade myself.

1) Parents' responsibility
2) They show these things on like Saturday or Sunday Evening.
3) Parents' responsibility
4) Kids younger than 7th grade are having sex
5) Parents should take responsibility for what their children watch. If they think it's inappropriate, they should turn it off. Worst thing that can happen is the kids will learn something.

My family was pretty open with me but I was watching Nickelodeon back in like 2nd grade, before I had any idea what sex was. Also, its weird to think of 6th graders having sex because I can honestly say that I had no sexual desires at that age.

i hope they show. it. children should know. Most of the time the parents dont even have the sex conversation with the children until its too late.
