Be Careful Staying at Hotels

This is something I never thought about before but I think we should all think about it from now on. An Atlanta news station did an I-team report on cleaning the drinking glasses in hotels. So glad my money dictates that I stay in hotels with plastic throw away cups, lol.

I received the email on this subject and I wasn't surprised. It's good to have that reminder to not get too comfortable in your hotel rooms.

Okay I'm disgusted about that...but what do you expect...you never see any glasses on the cleaning cart (well at least I don't).

Good point! I just never felt comfortable using those glasses; now I know why...

Me either. I used to work at a hotel but we had plastic cups only. I figured they at least used dish detergent and a clean dishcloth to clean the glasses and not the towel I used to wipe my hind parts. http://www.pledgepark.com/images/smilies/yuk.gif

I have worked in a hotel and we also used paper cups but the lack of cleanliness does not surprise me at all. It starts with hotel management trying to get as many rooms clean in as little time as possible with sometimes no inspection at all. If I had to clean 10 rooms in three hours there would have to be some corners cut! 20 minutes is not enough time to get everything done. If you stay in a room 2 days or more your sheets are only being changed 1 time and your comforter may only be changed once a month. However responsibility must also be placed with housekeepers, because they know they would not want dirty things in their personal rooms. People just do not care and if this report had never come out, things would continue to get worse.

Oh and to clarify, I worked the front desk at my hotel and washed towels and pillowcases because folding those sheets were a pain in the butt and for the 3rd shift person. :p

I'm so glad I always stop and buy water *whew*

Thanks for posting this. I've been hotel hopping a lot more recently and one of the things I never do is use the in-room glasses. Either I drink out of the bottle or I call room service to bring up clean glasses. This is just beyond nasty. Staph infections? Ugggghhhh..

Did you work at a Residence Inn?? I did the same exact thing except I had a sheet folder!

This is so disgusting. I started a thread on something similar to this one regarding hotel towels and sheets. I always bring my own. Thanks for posting this. I'll be bringing my own cups too from now on.

We had the folder as well but again that was for the 3rd shift person to sweat out, lol, at the good old Fairfield Inn.

And people wonder why when I HAVE to stay in a hotel, I bring my own sheets, towels, and water. I barf at the thought of using things that a kabillion other people have used/slept on, etc.

Same company, except we all had to do laundry!! :(

yup, I always take my own towels and washcloths and I buy water. I think I'm going to start taking my own sheets/pillow cases too...now travelling with a comforter is a bit much but I wish I could do that.
