need some info please..

hey guys

i'm currently a senior in high school and i plan on joining a sorority regardless of the college that i end up at. but i'm a first-born child and i don't know anyone really who is in a sorority/fraternity so i was just wondering.. could anyone help me out and give me some info on sororities? how does recruitment work? what's rush? how severe is hazing? how do you pledge? how do you even find out about all the available sororities when you get to college?

i don't really know a lot about sororities so if anyone can fill me in, that would be great. thanks :)

Read through threads on the recruitment area, this area, all over...then you'll be able to ask some more specific questions.

Do your own research (google is your friend) but you can start with the links below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NPHC (NPHC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...nic_Conference (NPC)

Talk to teachers at your school, your guidance counselors, friends of your parents and parents of your friends.

^^^ What they said

You'd be surprised how many people around you are already Greek. Again, check with teachers, counselors, neighbors, and friends. If they're not Greek themselves, someone should be able to give you some contact information for people who are.

Aside from NPC and NPHC, there's also NALFO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NALFO) if that interests you.

Good luck!

If you already know which school you are going to for college, go to their website. Chances are high that there are links to the Greek Life on your campus so you will know which chapters are on your campus. There should also be recruitment info on there (how to register for recuitment, when it takes place, what to expect, etc)

This depends on what kind of organization the poster is interested in. All greek orgs do not post their recruitment information and not all greek orgs hold recruitment activities at the same time.

Are you interested in joining a NPC sorority? If so it really depends on what schools you are looking at as sorority recruitment is different at each one. Do you have idea of what schools you are looking to apply to?

As for being the eldest child in a family, I am the oldest in my family, went Greek, and had a great experience!!!! :)
