House
Our university is a dry campus so we are not able to have alcohol on school property which includes our chapter house. The way that most fraternities get around this is they have a "party house" that is off campus property where they go to the house and have their social events along with the sororities. These houses are also beneficial for many other reasons including tailgating and get togethers with sororities. Our house currently does not have a "party house" and it feels like our involvement with sororities and the other houses is really low because it seems like most people will not party or do anything with us unless there is alcohol involved. We are thinking of purchasing a house to hold parties but there is many things that that make it a problem.
1. Where do we get the money? (According to our international and constitution we cannot mandate any funds to go towards a house or alcohol) 2. What is the risk if the house gets busted? ( Chapter Shut down etc...) 3. Any other ideas or suggestions. |
1. If your house's residences are full, then have some other brothers rent the "party house". There's other financial details that would have to be worked out, but rent, don't buy. You can probably pay the guys that live in the house back by brothers cleaning it as they clean their own house.
2. Yes you could get kicked off as an event with a bunch of members of your chapter present, even if it isn't at your house, is a "fraternity event" |
