Charter a community Sorority

I want to charter my local sorority that I co-founded as a community sorority. Is this possible? We are an active service group to our local city.

Not sure exactly what you mean.

Usually when one speaks of 'chartering', you mean national/state org chartering a group to be an official local chapter (unit, club, whatever) of that org.

As a local sorority, you are an independent group. So there is no charter.

What you may want to look into is to be an incorporated organization in your state, just like any other chartable service organization. Check out the laws in your state as to the requirements to be incorporated.
