Designer Jeans Party

My friend sent me an Evite this morning for a designer jeans party that her roommate is hosting at their place. Her roommate is claiming that the guy who's coming is a wholesaler and is selling the jeans for a deeply discounted price.

I've heard that many of the jeans sold at these parties are either fake or they're damaged. I've also always thought that the designer jean companies do not use a wholesaler - they sell directly to the stores that carry their jeans. Also, the companies are extremely picky about which stores are allowed to carry their brand.

Have you all ever been to one of these parties? Are the jeans always fake? I want to tell my friend but I don't want her or her roommate to get offended. Plus I don't want to say anything if there's a slim chance these jeans might be real.

Designer jeans for a discounted price....just seems too good to be true unless you're shopping at Filene's or something (those jeans are real).

yeah ok, "deeply discounted." the cynic in my says they will be fake. unless he's reselling them from a sample sale, in which this guy wouldnt have more than a couple pairs of the same jeans at one time. and then you have to wonder, how did he gets his hands on such goods?

and i doubt that top designers even sell "wholesale" to the average joe. i mean, what's his story? how is he making profit if hes selling at a "deep discount?" unless they FELL OFF THE TRUCK or are NOT REAL, i dont see where he breaks even, if at all.

I'm leaning towards fake though I've seen companies sell damaged/wrong goods at a discount. I know Wrangler (not designer by any means or anything) and associated companies sell "irregulars" at a discounted price, meaning there's a problem somewhere, be it a small hole to a slightly puckered seam to wrong colored stitching to uneven leg lengths.

Designer jeans party? Interesting idea. I'd have to think they were fake. I've never been to a designer jeans party. I've been to a "designer purse party" which was purses inspired by designer brands. I was well aware that I wasn't buying anything even remotely close to a designer bag - but it was cute and pretty cheap.
