Chapter Info Page

The GF spent some time putting together a chapter information page. Interesting stuff. I applaud the work.

I did a quick look at some of the chapters and am surprised at what I found. I would think some of them would be doing better.

From the top down, we have:

Closed 53
Disbanded 18
Revoked 6
Suspended 18
Warning 4
Probation 12
Good Standing 81
Under Reorganization 4
Provisional Colony 5

Total Chapters 201 Does include some closed colonies listed but not mine

Funtioning: 124 From Suspended on down on above list

And when I look at the list of the 53 closed chapters, I see our history in many of them. I know that a few chapters will never be brought back due to changes at the schools. But to see so many of the single letter chapters closed is sad.

I certainly hope that the expansion committee gives each of those older chapters a good review before they make their decisions every year on where to expand.

Iota, Kappa, Zeta should be good targets. Alpha Psi should also be a good expansion/recolonization.

ummm, yeah. that list is not up to date at all. There are way more then 5 more provisional colonies, Denison included, my recent alma mater, which is NOT suspended as the list states. The disbanded universities seem up to snuff though.

Are you telling me that our GF is publishing erroneous data?? I did not think that was allowed. [/SARCASIM]

I knew of at least one error in that the list did not have the Indiana State University Colony listed as Closed or Disbanded.

So, if the GF will give me the correct data and access to the web pages, I hereby volunteer to make the required changes.

This is one thing I am truly disappointed in: our website. We are one of the richest fraternities. We may not be the biggest, but we're very well known and have a huge alumni base. With it being a 'virtual world', we need to bring our website to the new millennium so we can better interact and communicate with our Chapters, Alumni, potential brothers and the overall community.

Spend some money, have a professional build, maintain and update the site. It's not that hard.

They aren't publishing bad data, it's just old and out of date and out of sync, that's all.

Since perception is everything...old, out of date and out of sync are bad.

This just in from the home office:

As for Colonies: Only colonies that were around long enough to have members initiated under the colony name appear on the list.

Oh, that makes sense

That would explain why mine wasn't listed! Perhaps after January 13th...

Oh, really? interesting... I love how that said we recolonized in 2006... but we really recolonized in 2004/2005... Where did you get that?

I received an e-mail directly from the AO in response to one I sent the WebMaster link asking about the "errant" data.

When I quoted the AO in my post above - it was directly from that e-mail. The person sending me the response was Kye Hittle, Kansas State '99, Director Of IT.

I replied asking what did it take for a colony to be listed. My colony members (except me) where all initiated under our neighbor, Delta. We were a colony for four years then were dropped for not making whatever the goals were (not really explained to me).

Correction!

Well, my colony is listed now. According to my LC- the list is officially added whenever a colony is registered for Chapter Reporting (which is traditionally after initiation).
We were registered yesterday to accomodate registration to send our officers to this year's FuturesQuest and other Leadership Development Conventions during the next two months.

Regards,
Nick

Update....

My request for information regarding colonies has not been answered. I asked just exactly what it did take for a colony to be listed.

Even though it "failed," I still think the Indiana State University colony should be on the list. Lessons can be learned from failures as well.

I have definitely emailed the GF about this, but they do not want to pay the costs for housing Forums/private social networks as well as other features.

phi-delt has a social network on their site, I have no idea what the cost is but it's a good idea to connect and network us brothers.

Somebody updated something, because the numbers have changed a bit in the past two months,

Closed 54
Disbanded 19
Revoked 6
Suspended 16
Warning 6
Probation 12
Good Standing 79
Under Reorganization 4
Provisional Colony 5

With 79 chapters in "good standing" status, we now have less than 40% of our chapters up and running and in good standing.
