I'm simply amazed by this. That entire franchise should be embarassed right now.

Oh, that makes my heart hurt.

Yes, they do - but it seems like he didn't abide by the policies of the team and the NFL.

The team, if properly informed, can put him on a bereavement list with the league, and replace him on the roster. As it happened, it doesn't look like the team got what they needed to replace him on the roster, and that lead to the fine.

Troy also went to South Carolina and from what I heard, he's a cool guy. He's gone through a lot for the past few years and to see him punished for going to his grandma's funeral is pitiful. I hope he appeals to the players' union.

And believe it or not, before I read this story, I prayed it wasn't Troy or Sydney Rice (another Gamecock) who was involved.

ETA: Troy comes from a huge family.

He's getting paid now.

jitterbug13 11-11-2007 08:40 PM

Yeah, after everyone probably raised hell about it. I'm glad Troy decided to donate the money. :)

SigKapAngel767 11-11-2007 08:43 PM

I'm proud of him for sticking to his choice. What a class act! :)

It was not the team, it was NFL HQ.

They backed down as I am sure they were catching a lot of heat.

He is getting the back pay and said he was going to donate it to a charity in her name.

Now that is a class act!:)
