Hair poll!

I know that we already have a thread for "Curly Hair," but I wanted to start a thread about hair in general! You can answer all these questions, or only the ones you want to--it's your choice! Sorry if this topic seems so random...I just have to get something off my mind right now!

I love playing with hair, so I would love to read everybody else's responses http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif.

*What's your hairstyle?

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

*Do you have any fave products for hair?

*Any tips to share?

-----------------------------------------------------------And feel free to add anything else to this poll in regards to hair!

Oops, I forgot to enter in my own responses http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.

*What's your hairstyle?
My hair is long, dark, slighty wavy.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?
I like that my hair is very versatile...it can be wavy one minute and straight the next, depending on how I want it to be. What I don't like--sometimes it's so thick! My fave hairstyle on a guy is either a crew cut or somewhat spiky (not too long spikes, though, please!).

*Do you have any fave products for hair? YES! HAIRCOLOR!! hehe. I love playing around with haircolor...though my hair is so stubborn that it does not absorb hair color that well, so I'm always left with some black in my hair (I have natural black hair). Currently--it's reddish-brown-black.

Also, I love to use Leave-in Conditioner! That is the key for me! I like Nexxus Hairdressing (leave-in conditioning). Also, Aussie's 3- Min Miracle is a wonderful deep conditioner!

*Any tips to share? DON'T BLOWDRY YOUR HAIR SO MUCH! Go au naturel if possible...air-dry http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Fried hair is not pretty! Don't tug on your strands either. But most of this is common sense...

Also, to get rid of static, run your hands under cold water, and hold your hands about 2 inches away from your head. Poof! Static is gone!

Good topic, Newbie!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
I'm a hair fanatic. I am my hair. I know that sounds weird, but it's just my thing.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifMy Hair is...
Long, straight (slightly, slightly wavey when it air dries), and blonde.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifHair must haves...
conditioners, leave in conditioners, and hot oil treatments.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifHair favorites...
Biolage Hydrating Shampoo, Biolage Detangle Solution, and Leave In Spray Tonic.
TIGI's Bed Head products (all TIGI products smell good enough to eat!!!). Graham Webb products are pretty good too.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifWhat I like about my hair...
Since it's long and pretty straight, I can do just about anything to it. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifInteresting tips...

1. Heat some extra virgin olive oil in the microwave, use on clean, wet hair, and wrap hair in a warm towel. This makes for a great natural hot oil treatment.

2. Apple Cider Vingear is an excellent clarifier(sp?), used to remove build up from hair products and hard water. It also gives hair a nice shine.

3. Mayonnaise also gives hair a nice shine...it's just gross to use.

4. Honey is a great moisturizer. It also lightens the hair over time.

*What's your hairstyle? My hair is dark brown (almost black), shoulder-length, and VERY curly.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex? Sometimes my hair is a big pain in the butt. I really think it has a mind of its own. As for the opposite sex, I prefer guys with short hair. I like the clean-cut look.

*Do you have any fave products for hair? I have found the perfect stuff for my hair, and it's inexpensive! I use L'Oreal Curl Vive shampoo and conditioner, and Herbal Essences conditioning balm for intense conditioning (yeah it's kinda like that commercial http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif). And then I have to use 2 different anti-frizz gels on my hair! You can see why I say my hair is a pain in the butt!

juniorgrrl 05-30-2001 01:44 PM

*What's your hairstyle?
Medium to light brown, shoulder length layered cut, with angle-cut bangs swept to the side. I've got extremely subtle blonde highlights.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

I love my hair - its so easy to work with. Its straight as hell, but I can curl it with hot rollers and it looks all bouncy. I have to blow dry it though, lest it start to look a bit wavy and wierd.

I hate Mullets! Please people, get into this century!

*Do you have any fave products for hair?
I use Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner, and that's about it. I'm extremely low maintenence with my hair. Wash, dry and go http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

What's your hairstyle?
My hair is dark brown with copper-tone highlights, curly, shoulder length

Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?
Well my hair just normally parts down the middle- but i want to get a new hairstyle. My face is round so every one tells me to part it on the side but i hate how it looks! I wear it up a lot of the times just because its easier and i dont get as hot. On the opposite sex i like a clean cut. If they have to put gel on thats okay, but i dont like it when its all stiff.

Do you have any fave products for hair?I always use Physique on my hair. I use the shampoo, conditioner, and mousse

Any tips to share?
If you have curly hair and dont have a lot of time to mess with up, just wash it, minimal towel dry and then put mousse in it. During the day i mess with it a lot just so it doesnt turn stiff and hard- i hate that. I rather have soft curls. Also, did you know that if you keep your hair up most of the day and then at night let it down, the smell of your shampoo will last longer? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

bucutie02 05-30-2001 01:59 PM

Okay well i am always saying that I am going to let my hair grow out but then i change my mind. I am thinking about cutting my hair a few inches shorter, and in layers. I kind of want it like Felicity's hair. My hair is shoulder length right now and with no layers. What do you guys think??

LXA1048 06-01-2001 01:52 PM

I guess that I can join in this conversation. hair type:
I have hair past my shoulders and it is light brown. It is straight until it gets past my ears then is curls up.
Likes/dislikes:
I love my hair, but it gets to be a pain when I am out on the lake or when I just want to ride around in my car with the windows down. Some how it always ends up in my mouth or in my eyes. That is my only dislike.
Fav product:
I have no idea except that I love apple shampoo. It smells so good.

I need some hair assistance. OK when my new hair comes in it sticks up all over the place. I want to get it to lay down. I have tried some anti-friz crap and all it did was make my hair look like I was using soul-glow. I have no idea how to fix this and this isn't a problem that you go and ask your guy friends. You all are the only people that understand me.

later,
Clint

shopgirl 06-01-2001 06:53 PM

Hey Clint,

I have trouble with the frizzies too! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif I have yet to find the perfect product, be it a natural remedy or store bought, but I do like some products that seem to work. First, I recently bought Pantene's new Smoothing Creme. It's a little thick, but it doesn't seem to weigh the hair down or make it look greasy. Also, as much as I don't like to spend the money on Clinique hair products, they have two straightners to choose from that you can use on your hair when it's wet. Then there is a really nice serum that you can use on your dry hair that tames frizzies and adds shine. If nothing else, try the serum. It's $13.50, but it does work well.

I'll keep thinking of the things I've tried so I can help you out. Oh yeah, keep up on your trims. Even if it's just a 1/2 an inch. Trimming the hair always makes it look better.

*What's your hairstyle?

I have medium length (just past my shoulders) wavy hair - it has some long layers at the bottom and is REALLY dark brown

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

My hair is neither curly nor straight - I wish it would be either. It's not extremely wavy, just a little bit, so if I let it air dry it just looks kind of frizzy and poufy. I have always wished for ringlets even though they are a lot of work.

On Guys, I LOVE short, kind of spiky hair. In my opinion it is the best and most universally attractive guy hairstyle.

*Do you have any fave products for hair?

Kiehl's silk groom. It REALLY calms frizzy hair, and you only need a tiny bit - the teeny bottle lasts forever.

Also, frizz-ease mousse.

KillarneyRose 06-02-2001 05:41 PM

Newbie! That Nexxus Hairdressing you mentioned sounds interesting to me. Is it a spray or a gel or what? I just got highlights in my hair so it's a bit fried right now and I could really use a good conditioner!

Thanks!

Thought I'd add another male perspective to the thread. BTW, great topic carolyn. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

My hair is light brown with blond tips. Not to sound conceited, but the frosty tips looks really good on me. Almost every-day I get compliments on my hair by women, I don't know what i'm gonna do when it goes out of style. I geuss in the future i'll be like one of those mullet guys now, wearing a hair style exclusively by guys who drive camaros.

Favorite Hair Style for ladies - long hair, straight or curly dark blond/brunette/red head, I hate short hair on a chick - sorry

Tips: A lot of ppl ask me how I style my hair, I usually wait about 15-20 minutes after washing it before I apply a combination of styling cream and gel.

LXA1048 06-04-2001 01:01 PM

Thanks for the help shopgirl. I will give a few of those products a try.

newbie 06-04-2001 05:10 PM

Hey guys!

Shopgirl, what TIGI products do you use? TIGI seems like such a fun brand! Have you ever tried egg yolks on your hair? i haven't, I'm scared that I'll have scrambled eggs on my hair when I get out of the shower!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

SSS1365, what is the Herbal Essences conditioning balm like? (How do you use it, what does it do, etc.) Thanks!

Juniorgrrl, what does a Mullet look like? I've heard so much about them, but don't know what they look like!!

Bucutie, do you mean Felicity's hairstyle when she first cut it off, or now, when it's growing out? Personally, I liked it when it was grown out a bit (I thought it looked really nice), but I think what ever floats your boat is fine!!! Do what you want!!

LXA1048, I don't think I know how to exactly answer your Q, but I think buying a straightening iron would help a lot? That way, it could be as straight as you like it, and not stick up! I know what a pain that is--I used to have shoulder-length hair (a few years back, though), and it was a pain in the a$$!! One side would stick up, while the other was straight! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Mine would do that b/c that is just how my hair's growth would be. What I've found is--you can only control the sticking-out by either growing it PAST that stage where it sticks out, or by trimming it off BEFORE it gets to that stage. I don't think that any styling products will help that--my opinion only, though--b/c I tried so many products b4 to try to control that, and nothing worked! You might invest in that straightening iron, though. Hope that helps some?

Hi KillarneyRose!! You know, I went into the salon this wkend, to look for new hairproducts (I ran out of the Hairdressing) but I couldn't find the Hairdressing anymore! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif BUT, I found another Nexxus product that is highly raved about: Humectress Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner! I had heard a lot about it previously, and so, since I couldn't find the Hairdressing, I decided to give this a whirl! I've tried this product 2X so far. I love it!!! SInce I color my hair a lot, it's pretty fried, too...and unfortunately, my used-to-be-healthy hair is pretty brittle, I think. It doesn't look fried--but it FEELS fried http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. Anyway, the Humectress really moisturizes my hair--it's not sticky/oily-feeling tho! It also gives me some body. (Though I have really thick hair, sometimes it just falls flat!) Let me type out what else it's supposed to do (what it says on the bottle)--
• Excellent moisturizer for dry, brittle hair
• Eliminates static electricity in the hair
• Moisturizes the innermost structure of the hair
• Protects the hair from sun's damaging ultraviolet rays
• Excellent for kinky, curly and permed hair
• Fortified with panthenol for added body
• pH balanced
• Fortified with NexxuSpheres

HOpe that helps you, Killarney! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Nick--haha. I also like the look of frosted tips, provided it's not too drastic, or too much http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. Does your hair look like Ricky Martin's? His hair is very nice! His is also light brown with dk. blonde tips. Can you describe to me how a mullet looks like?

Oh, I forgot to add to my list of Dislikes:

I hate it when some Asian guys/girls bleach their hair bright platinum/orange--it looks really unnatural, and then their hair is really stringey too. Plus the guys always make it really LONG in the front (bangs) and then short the rest of the way. To me, it just looks really bad. Really cheap. High fob alert! (No offense to anyone who wears their hair like that...)

I think sticking with dark hair is really pretty. I'm of Asian descent, too, and I don't think orange/blonde exactly flatters us!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif
