Disaffiliation/ Joinging a New Org Question

Hey so I'm a SigEp at my school... but after some soul searching I've realized that while Greek life at my school is for me, SigEp isn't. I didn't think to rush anyone else... got my bid, took it and now have seen there are other organizations I'm more interested in. Namely, ZBT is coming to my school and I was hoping to help found... does anyone know if my disaffiliation from SigEp (which I still have to file for...) would cause a problem? Thanks!

Are you still a pledge and have not been initiated?

Umm we have a really confusing system where we don't actually pledge... we are initiated straight away... I have a card, I'm techincally a brother for life but then again we do 3 rituals so actually I've only been through 2 so I don't know all of my fraternity's secrets... I know some like the letters' meaning but on the other hand I still have no idea what our crest means. It's a little confusing because our system is so odd.

So you're a Phi. AFAIK, that means you cannot pledge again. But I'd like to see a Sig Ep weigh in here.

The NIC allows an initiated member to pledge another fraternity only if the man terminated his membership. He must also be granted a release from IHQ. However, this does not mean that an IFC/NIC fraternity (or chapter) may even consider previously initiated men for membership. Some may, others may not.

As such, confirm with Zeta Beta Tau's and Sigma Phi Epsilon's IHQs regarding their specific policies.
