New House!!

We're finally getting sorority houses @ Ball State and AGD is one of the first sororities to get one! We are trying to figure out a cute slogan for a shirt...any ideas?! Thank you!!

FSUZeta 10-29-2007 06:41 PM

congratulations to you and all the other sororities!!

how about "there's no place like home," a la wizard of oz?

please keep us updated on your chapters progress.

How about "Sweet Home, Alpha Gamma"?

AGDee 02-01-2008 03:21 PM

There was a dedication ceremony yesterday (in the middle of a snow and ice storm). It is so wonderful to have the University Administration being so supportive of the Greeks there. I think that really speaks to the Greek system at Ball State and the Administration both!

Hoe did they pick the 4 sororities that recieved the houses? Where they the ones displaced by the dorm renovations?

I remember reading that one of the dorms that had sorority suites in it was being renovated and they planned to house honors students in it after the renovations.

I thought she said ribbon-cutting, not ground-breaking. If I'm wrong, then definitely don't need a pic of a dirt patch,LOL.

ETA: Ok, I read the article, and the women have already moved in and they just had the dedication ceremony. So..... pics please!! :D

ForeverRoses 02-04-2008 02:39 PM

The confusion might be this- Ball State is considering a Greek Village (so it would currently be a dirt patch), however since they haven't finalized anything, they turned over 4 university owned houses to 4 sororities (that previously had dorm suites). SO the ribbon cutting would be for the 4 houses that they turned into sorority houses. But when/if they build a greek village then they would move into that (I think)- the 4 houses aren't the same thing as the greek village.

And I searched for pictures, but couldn't find anything. The chapter websites haven't been updated in a while. :(

The 4 that received the houses were the 4 that were displaced. I think it will be important for that new housing situation to go well so that the Greek Village will be more likely to become a reality. There was supposed to be television coverage of the dedication ceremony but I couldn't find any clips online.

These houses are really very small. Ours can sleep 4 but we're starting with 3. Yeah, that small! It's a start though and let's hope it expands with time!

What has happened to the houses of the several fraternities that have closed recently? Didn't Lambda Chi, Beta, and ATO build new ones? Why could they not be used by the sororities?

Since the the sorority chapters have not had houses before, perhaps they have yet to build into their budgets the expense that would be needed to move into (and continue the upkeep etc.) one of the fraternity houses.

And congrats to Alpha Gamma Delta and their new home. Happy nesting!
