I will be in Philadelphia at the beginning of next month. It will be my first time there. So what are some good place to go check out that is around the downtown area.
|
What do you like to do? Give me a list and I will point you in the right direction.
|
The Liberty Bell, Gino's Steaks, Independence Hall, South Street....
The list goes on, what are you in to. |

actually, i don't care, i just crack up over the whole debate over who has the best cheesesteaks. especially when its alcohol fueled. |
Philly's awesome! Do you know where you're staying? Will you have access to a car? Do you feel comfortable using public transportation?
Do you like food? Philly's a food town. A site I use is www.uwishunu.com which is sponsored by the tourism council and features current happenings around the city. |
Pat's and Geno's both suck.
|
We went to Dave and Busters and loved it. We have only been to Philly once (didnt do anything since we were there for a wedding), but we are going back in December.
|
List of places to go and you won't find me at any of them.
Theaters: Walnut St Merriam Acadamy of Music Music Kimmel Center Academy of Music Art Philadelphia Art Museum Barnes Foundation. Science Franklin Institute. Academy of Science Philadelphia Zoo History Independence Hall Constitution Center City Hall Most of the action is going to be in Center City and within about a 1 mile radius of City Hall. There is nothing to see in the Northeast, West Phila, North Phila. You probably should not go to North Phila without a police escort. Do not go to Pats or Genos. Do not take advice from anyone that recommends Pats or Genos. |
I'm more interested in places that are not very know by tourist. Like some good places to go eat or things to that you can only find in Phili other then the usally tourist spots.

I grew up in Philly, and everytime I go back I have to have a cheesesteak, a hoagie, and TastyKakes. (Sorry Hostess products don't even come close to them!) :D

And personally, I prefer Jim's Steaks on South Street to Pat's or Geno's. |
