The girls in my sorority

Hi all...this is my first posting. Something has really been bothering me lately. All of the girls in my sorority (which will go nameless) are really, really, shall I say, loose. I'm not judging them, but it's just not the right choice for me. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me or was in a similar situation. It makes me really uncomfortable when the gals are 'rehashing' their night of sin. What do you all think?

KSig RC 05-29-2001 06:42 PM

I think . . . this question will (and probably should) go unanswered. Seriously - bad drop-in.

Ditto on that KSig. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

What does that mean? I think it is a legitimate question.

Sometimes LEGITIMATE doesn't equal to APPROPRIATE.

Sometimes LEGITIMATE doesn't equal to DISCREET.

I am not in your position and never have been, but if you can't stand to hear them talk about whatever isn't lady-like behavior...be it drinking, sex, or whatever...just simply walk away. If it really starts to bother you to the point where you feel it's getting out of hand, bring it to other people's attention.
In my chapter we call ourselves classy and we do not go around rehashing our nights out...even if they are PG rated.
If you feel a certain way then I'm sure there is someone else in the sorority that feels the same way too.
Good Luck.

PS. 'Promiscuous' might have been a better suited word.

I think if you feel strongly about it, you should probably bring it to your personnel chair's attention. Obviously you can't stop girls from doing things like that. The way I think of my sorority is that everything that I do is a reflection on my chapter. If you feel like there is a problem with these girls' behavior, it is something that needs to be addressed.

Thanks Hootie

Its a legitimate question . . .

I believe what Hootie and Redhotchio (a hard name to live up to!)said are excellent examples of actions to take.

Although maybe its just the detail the girls go into that phases you?

Its my understanding that women can be somewhat more graphic in their descriptions with their friends than we guys are.

Keep in mind also, that "loose" is a value driven word and presupposes that they share your view of what behaviors are appropriate or not. They are under no such obligation.

In fact they could find your dismay or your judgemental stance to be equally distasteful and an example of intolerance of other people's preference for engaging in whatever behavior THEY find appropriate that isn't hurting anyone else.

You would find a harsh response from me if you sought to modify my behavior to conform with YOUR world view.

hey all,
well if this is a sincere concern and a honest to goodness post" totally legit" I'll go ahead and drop my two cents.
I feel as though, maybe you should discuss this with your sisters. I mean no one wants to ever say that they are like that, but like most things if you confront the problem then at least you would have had your say.
Be honest, and I am sure they will respect you if your are just stating your cause and being honest and not rude.
Hope that helps

If this person had any intentions of making a "legitamate" post, s/he wouldn't have already been asking about the "I'd a felt a thigh sorority" and posting about porn movies with sorority in the title. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Get a life Muffy.

While I think it's amusing that a college student does not know how to spell 'legitimate'; I give you credit for at least being half-witted enough to figure a few things out!

Give me a break, just because a person is a college student does not mean that s/he is the best speller in the world. I guarantee you that even the most intelligent people are not the greatest spellers. By the way, as long as we're on the subject of spelling and grammar, since you're so smart you must know that a semicolon does not belong in your sentence. That said, the rest of your post is equivalent to your admission that everyone's suspicions about your illegitimacy are not unfounded, and therefore you must be some person who has no life. If you had better things to do, you wouldn't be here saying the ridiculous things that you've been saying.
