what should i do?
hey guys.....im a prospective transfer student at the University of Oregon. By the time i transfer, ill be 20 yrs old, and by credit standards, a freshmen in college. Will i have any problem rushing a frat?

I think your age may be a slight hinderance, if any at all. The fact that you're still a freshman and will have lots of time to contribute on a collegiate level is a pro for you. I wouldn't worry too much about your chances just based on your age and transfer status :) Have fun and good luck!

From my experience at Oregon, I don't think your age will be much of an issue. They don't have a super competitive rush especially for the fraternities (at least they didn't when I left six years ago) and I knew quite a few older guys who joined fraternities.

I graduated from UofO in '94, so I am sure a lot has changed. In fact, there are four fewer sororities and a bunch of different fraternities. However, back in my day, having a successful recruitment as a slightly older PNM was very achievable (particularly if you are an underclassman credit-wise). Fraternity recruitment at UofO is even less competitive. The previous posters' info is probably better, as she is a much more recent graduate. Good luck! GO DUCKS.

I don't see how your age should be an issue. Granted I go to a different school and all. But I was a 2nd semester junior when I pledge and one of our alumni didn't cross until his senior year.
