Hey. I was an avid skier (competed twice)until I tried to 'board this winter. I've since sold my ski's and bought a board http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif !! I boarded Tahoe first, then moved on to Aspen, Breckinridge, Vail, and Whistler!! I had so much fun. Can't wait till next season!!

Faced with the Divine, I was asked; "What one gift do you seek?"
I answered ever so meekly; "I seek Honor, Truth, Integrity, and Wisdom, yet those are four. How am I to choose?"
The answer came as a pounding whisper; "The four you seek are but one. I grant thee Compassion; for without it the four make none."

I am with you on that!
Oh, I love skiing - no big hills around where I live, but still! Have been skiing since I was five - it is such a great type of sports.
But let me enjoy a bit of summer first... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Nope, but I'll love to! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
And, I'll love to try surfing one day too! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

The only popular extreme sports we have over here in the mid-west is biking, skateboarding, and rollerblading. No slopes and oceans! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif Pretty boring, huh?

Last January I had the opportunity to touch snow for the first time...and I learned how to ski and snowboard.

Okay...local girl from Hawaii...an okay surfer...I thought snowboarding was going to be just like controlling your surfboard...yeah-right!

My BF's dad tried to give me skiing lessons amidst the mad rush of people at the Mountain High resort (it was MLK weekend) and I spent more time on my butt than I actually did skiing.

It's kinda hard to say which one I liked the best. The snowboarders were the young and hip crowd...usually sporting their clothes...and you had the skiers...an older, different type of group. I really don't know, but I can't wait to try both again. I hope my body will be recovered by then.

Lovin' skiing! I didn't get a chance to hit the slopes this year, but next year for sure I'm hitting somewhere in Colorado! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have been skiing for years but just snowboarded for the first time yesterday! It is so much fun! My boyfriend taught me and I was so happy because he was so patient :o) We live about an hour away from the closest ski park. I can't wait to go again next weekend :o)

I boarded on a rented board but I was wondering if any of you have bought boards and if so... which brands of boots and bindings you prefer? I'm going to buy a board, bindings and the works very soon but I was just wondering if any of you have any preferences to what works good?
Thanks

I love to ski!!!!!!!!!

I finally got to do it my sophomore year of HS, and I absolutely fell in love with it - it's one of my favorite things to do now. With the help of some friends (who took me down runs I wasn't nearly prepared for) I quickly progressed, and had my first deep powder experience on my last ski trip (which would have been only my 7th day of skiing). It was one fo the most exhilerating experiences ever.

I can't wait until after the new year when me and three HS buds are going to carve up Copper Mountain. The tradition has continued of bringing along a newbie to the slope, and by now we're old pros at getting people to progress really quickly. Gosh, I'm shaking in excitement for this trip right now.

Ever since I rolled down a mountain at Squaw valley I've decided not to ski. Maybe someday I'll make my way to a ski lodge :) My family does have a cabin in tahoe but usually I like the summers there better.

Skiers rock!! I love to ski! I am 21, and I have been skiing since I was 4 years old. I gave boarding a shot, but realized I was too good to sit on my ass all day. Anyway, I'm looking forward to going back north for break so I can ski at Tahoe.

Skied till I got Divorced and sold all of my equipment!

Raced in Vail, Steamboat, Keystone, Copper, Crested Butte, Steamboat, Taos, Breakenridge, Wyoming, and Kitszbuhl. Never won anything! Had to do a re run in Vail as said I DQ'd and raised all kinda of hell! Gave me another run as soon as I got to the Top.
God was so damn tired took out about 10 feet of Fence at the finish line. Could not stop, to beat to turn skis!:)

Now if got into elevation, would die from lack of oxygen!

Had some great times tho, climbed mountain in K as track ran out in the middle of Mountain! Had to climb up and ski 20 miles out of Kitzbuhl. Got could not get enuff water but finally chocked down 4 Beirs before caught a bus back to K!
