the KKK & Greeks??

I have heard lots of rumors flying around (both on my campus and from students at other schools) about certain Greek organizations having historical connections to the Klu Klux Klan. I was wondering if anyone else has heard these rumors? I was also hoping someone could either confirm or deny them for me (ideally based on their personal experience with the GLO's in question).
Here's the list:

1) Kappa Alpha Order (KA) - rumored to be formed as a collegiate sector for the Klan. Evidence - Choice of letters, spiritual founder Robert E. Lee, & use of confederate battle flag.

2) Kappa Sigma - Rumored to be Klansmen's sons. Evidence - choice of letters, souther presence, and supposedly initiation ceremony & small symbols

3) Kappa Kappa Gamma - rumored to be Klansmen's Girlfriends, or Girls of the Klan. Evidence - choice of letters and strong social southern association,

3) Kappa Delta - Rumored to be Klansmen's Daughters,
Evidence - Choice of letters, supposed iniation ceremonies, place of founding.

Someone's trying to lead you down the path of Greek Hate.

Even if any of that garbage was true, no one's going to confirm it. I ask you to seriously consider deleting your thread.

I agree. I don't think this can go anywhere good.

I thought the Tri Kaps are the collegiate sector of the KKK?

Don't know if you're serious or not, but for the OPs sake, even Tri Kappa is not KKK related.

It's just rumors because of the fact that there are K's in the name.

It's like that thing about getting rid of 311 as a call center because K is the 11st letter of the alphabet...so 311 would be KKK...whatever.

You probably believe that drinking Coke and eating Pop Rocks at the same time will "explode" in your stomach, too.

OY.

I KNOW that dropping a tube of Mentos into a 2 liter of Coke will make a big mess of your driveway, living room, etc.

Although I hope you will reconsider starting this in the first place, I will answer your question as it pertains to Kappa Delta.

NO! Kappa Delta is in no way, shape or form related to the Ku Klux Klan!!! It never was and never will be. I would never have joined a sorority that had any ties to that kind of vile hatred.

You have been seriously misinformed and are jumping to conclusions based on silly rumors.

ETA: I can't believe I even answered this! 2 a.m. - I need sleep.

Sooooooooooo any group with a "Kappa" in it are sons/daughters of Klansmen???? Riiiiiiiiiiight.

The whole "strong southern presence" think is a load of garbage too. No organization can help that their chapters in the South are the strongest. I'd venture to say that the South has a pretty strong Southern presence in general and not just in the "Kappa" chapters.
