Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha, plz help!
 

I am very interested in being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha! I have done my homework as far as research. I am currently an undergrad student at an excellent university but I am afraid that the AKA’s aren’t so excellent. :( I really do believe that being apart of this organization should be more than; pretty girls wearing 3 letters in 2 colors.

Unfortunately, the AKA’s here (most, I haven’t met the 3-4 others) are very unfriendly, rude, and by no means at all do they truly represent any of the qualities or standards of Alpha Kappa Alpha! As I’m sure many of you ladies are familiar with Facebook. On this site you can view the profiles of these ladies who are “sluttish” dressed and questionable posed. Not to mention using extreme profanity in their quotes and in “about me” section. I am still very interested in becoming a member but I am sad to say that I wish to have no affiliation with these ladies. I can guarantee that the founders of this wonderful sorority would be deeply dissatisfied and disappointed with these current members.

Finally, I am afraid that I may still be ignorant to some aspects of Greek life. Any links or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I sooooooo love your organization but I'm so scared. I'm scared I'm not going to be able to be a member before 2008. That means I will miss out on all of the fun. Is that what all this craziness is about? Everybody wants to be in for the big centennial shindig. LOL.

Well, honey ... since you just can't stand the thought of being affiliated with those "horrible" AKAs at your school, then there's nothing you can do. You can never be an AKA, because then you will definitely be affiliated with them - even if you did wait and try for grad chapter! It's just a shame.

You'll have to choose a different sorority instead. Look around on Facebook and see which orgs the properly covered girls are in.
