Beta at Ole Miss
 

This is so sad. I am sure the Beta's are very upset about this.

Thank you for posting this so that other Beta chapters would know and could be there for Ole Miss. I have sent the link to my chapter and this young man will be in our prayers.

A truely sad event.

[start sarcasim] I am sure that if there was an open beer can within 100 miles of the house, we will be branded Animal House drunkards and some lawyer will convince the family to sue demanding the the entire Beta Brotherhood be disbanded. [end sarcasim]

I'll use this tragedy to prove a point I tried to make with our chapter a few weeks ago during Rush. During one of the Rush events, a bean bag got stuck in a tree. I would guess that it was 20+ feet in the air. Of course, the undergraduates tried to climb the tree and retrieve it. Even worse, the Risk Manager was the lead instigator in trying to retrieve it.

They weren't happy when I walked up and immediately stopped them, but I suppose I'd rather them be mad at me for a few days than end up like this poor young man.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

However, read the statement about how the Unviersity Police Department did not find any evidence of a party or drinking. Hopefully the Beta's won't be kicked off campus. Rush starts next week, I haven't heard if they are participating in it still anymore.

So much could be said about this- but I just can't yet. I don't have any specific details or anything, but it just feels disrespectful to analyze it so soon.
