Sad day :(
 

Hey sisters,

I just wanted to write here because it sometimes the best way for me to reach some of you.

My dad went into the ICU last Friday for bad pnumonia, he was put on a ventilator and sedated almost immediately. He had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse which mainly started after his mom passed away in 1993. I got here in Pittsburgh on Monday to be here with my family and to see my dad. He had a chest tube, feeding tube and all kinds of things. He was 120 lbs and had a blood infection and swelling around his heart. We spent time at the hospital every day. He kept making baby steps in the right direction, but then on Thursday we were called into the hospital. He wasnt doing well at all. They couldnt clear his one lung, the infection had eaten holes in it. His chest was puffed with air that was escaping. There wasnt anything else they could do and so we had to say our goodbyes.

We sat there from 3pm when his last rites were read, and the ventilator removed, til 7:20 - he wasnt showing any changes besides his blood pressure dropping. They kept increasing the morphine. He passed away at 7:35pm on Thursday.

We are having his funeral on Friday the 21st.

This is really hard for us. My parents were seperated, but not divorced. Many of you know that my family has very little money so we are doing our best. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Does anyone know Crystal A's cell #? Did she change it at all?

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, Ali. I lost my own dad a few years back, so I know hard it must be for you.

I hope that your memories of him can bring comfort for you and your family at this difficult time.

ALI, I know at the end of the day no matter what anyone says the end result is still the same, it sucks. There are lots of people out there who love you and care for you and are sending thoughts and prayers your way to hopefully make it a *little less hard. call if you need/want anything. <3

You guys are all so sweet. I was shocked that there were people other than Phi Sigs posting... Thank you. We got his urn today, how weird is that? We got my dads urn. Ugh. Its going to be tough going back to VA.

Sheila, I will be up for ALF. Ill PM you my # again, if you dont have it. We can meet for a drink at the Tavern. Im going to get a yellow rose tattoo at Studio XIII that weekend, my dad had one on his arm, mine will be on my back. It was going to be red for Phi Sig/TBS, but now the yellow has more signifigance.
