bid day?

alright can someone explain to me what happens during the sessions? also when do the cuts occur? and if you make it onto bid day does that mean you're guaranteed to be in a sorority or will you be left standing there and not be chosen

Wow you have alot of questions!

Generally, those girls who will not be receiving bids are notified before Bid Day, so that they do not mistakenly show up.

There's alot that goes into the processs! It usually varies from school to school. Your best bet is to call your school's Greek Life or Campus Life office. They will usually have all of the info about the recruitment (rush) process there.

There's aslo a General Advice thread that talks about what generally happens during recruitment:

Sounds like you are very confused about the process. Releases (cuts) can occur anytime after the first party (depends on the campus.) Bid day is the day that women who have made it through the whole week find out which group they receive an invitation to join. If you make it to the preference party phase, you will be on someones bid list, but this does not necessarily mean you will receive a bid. If you are too low on the list, and the chapters make quota before your name comes up, you may not receive a bid. If you "suicide" (ie. only put down one group when you've been invited back to pref for more groups), there is a very good chance you may not get a bid. Some campuses do quota additions to try and give as many girls a chance at greek life as possible. Unfortunately, though, some women do remain bidless on bid day. Bid parties vary by chapter but usually involve pool parties or other activities that allow members to bond and celebrate the day. Girls should not be left in the field with no where to go when bids are handed out. Panhellenic notifies women ahead of time that they did not get a bid. We try our best not to be cruel to anyone. Hope that answers your questions.

noone will explain to you what happens during "sessions" or when cuts occur, because that is private membership selection information.

if you make it to bid day and do not receive a phone call or visit from your recruitment counselor or a member of panhellenic prior to bids being distributed, then you will be receiving a bid.

Ha! We actually had an Animal House skit for recruitment. We all wore Togas and sang those songs with AOII lyrics. It's kind of strange given the image of the Greek system in that movie. It was a GREAT party, though...except for the time the false front house fell on top of the PNMs in the middle of the skit!!:D
