Recommendations
 

Sorry just a newb question about recommendations. There's a sorority at my university I am considering joining and its somewhat competitive here. I was recently on my myspace and discovered that one of my friends just graduated from her university and was apart of the sorority I'm considering joining.

Question:
She is an alum now (even if it only started in spring 2007) so can I ask her for a recommendation? Or would you recommend someone say 5 years out of college?

Any alumna member can write a letter of recommendation. Call this woman and ask if she will write one for you. Be aware that if she left in bad standing, it may not help you. Otherwise, it would be a good rec since the woman actually knows you! Good luck, but open your mind and consider the other groups on campus as well. It'll likely save you a lot of heartache!
