News from Theta Iota
Dear Theta Iota Alumna:
It is with deep sadness that the International Council of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity announces its decision to resolve the Theta Iota Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at Western Kentucky University into its alumnae chapter effective at the end of the fall 2007 term. Theta Iota Chapter has been the subject of concern, consultation and continuing support visits from the Fraternity. Theta Iota Chapter has suffered from low membership and has been unable to fulfil membership directives and recruit enough members to sustain an Alpha Gamma Delta chapter on this campus. The loss of membership has resulted in an increasing burden for the collegiate chapter. A chapter installed into the Fraternity always exists. Collegiate members will become alumnae members of Alpha Gamma Delta and will continue to experience sisterhood through participation in alumnae activities such as a Junior Circle or an alumnae chapter or club. International Council recognizes the dedication, hard work and sisterhood that have been demonstrated by the members, new members and alumnae of this chapter along with the Advisor Team and Volunteer Service Team members who have supported Theta Iota Chapter throughout the years. Alpha Gamma Delta sincerely appreciates all who have supported Theta Iota Chapter, including the Office of Greek Life and College Panhellenic. International Council is hopeful that Alpha Gamma Delta will return to Western Kentucky University in the future. |
Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about Theta Iota closing. I've met so many amazing Theta Iotas over the years.
(((HUGS))) |
Sarah, I'm sorry!
I love going by the TI house when I'm in BG. I hope that the GTau new house (if we ever get it) has a beautiful sign like the one TI has! |
They met with Panhellenic yesterday and a resolution is being taken to all the other sororities houses this week- the resolution is for recolonization of the chapter (most likely next fall).
The current actives, I believe there are eightteen- are really upset and all of us alums have been sending them messages and trying to make the transition into life as an Alum a positive one- we will see what happens! Just keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Loyally, Sarah |
My heart goes out to the Theta Iota collegians.

When I went to the dorms last spring to visit my niece, I met one of the new collegians. She was very cute and bubbly! I want to say Alpha Lambda recruited 56 new members and initiated 48. The largest pledge class during formal recruitment from other houses was 29!!!!:) |
it's been tough....i haven't been active since 2002, but it's still a hard pill to swallow. we're all hoping for a speedy come-back! theta iota was everything i wanted in a sorority: sisterhood, fun (!), loyalty......cannot wait for its return!
