Sweethearts
Hey ladies,
I'm the social chairman for my the Gamma Upsilon chapter in California, PA. We've recently discussed having a sweetheart and I just wanted to know if any of your chapters have them and what are some things you do to appoint them, any certain criteria or any privilages? Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated! Melanie |
We never had a sweetheart per se, but we had a King of Hearts. As part of our philanthropy week each fraternity entered a contestant in a pageant to win the title. The money the fraternity raised was part of the scoring. (Also included an "evening wear" comeptition - lets just say this was rarely a tux - and a talent (the best? A tie for reverse stripping and a guy who had a ton of T-shirts on that had messages written on them, as he dance, he ripped each one off))
Of course, if the fiancé of one of our members won, that had to be because he was the best right? We had a date dash at the end of the pageant so everyone was a winner. Sorry for rambling, I have a ton of King of Hearts memories that are just hilarious (have you ever heard anyone sing the detachable penis song? or wear chaps and sing Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy?) |
We vote on 2 sweethearts. I think it's more of a tradition to have them on the composite, because they don't really do anything. They're usually just members' boyfriends. (My little's fiance was one of the sweethearts last year :) )

We had what we called the Colby Gentleman. He was a guy that represented the "ideal" man for Sigma Kappa's. He had to be someone that was a great guy, helpful and respectful to our sisters, and always willing to help us out and cheer us on when we needed him.
