American Idol-Season ?
 

I wanted to start an AI thread because I just found out that a friend of mine from HS won Arizona Idol and got to audition in Philly. Unfortunately, he can't tell me the outcome (totally sucks) and the show won't air until January, but I'm super excited. He did say that the Philly auditions are the first to be shown, so I'm excited about that. I'm hoping that he makes it to the show. He is an awesome singer.

Forgive me for not knowing, but is there always a pre-tryout before the cities? Like a qualifying round?

Some cities have a contest (usually affiliated with FOX) where they give the winner an expense-paid trip to an audition city, and guarantee them an audition with Simon. FOX Charlotte does this every season in uptown Charlotte.

I too thought they got a guaranteed audition with Paula, Simon and Randy, but my friend said that that wasn't the case. Instead of waiting in the 13,000 person line, he got to jump straight to the producers with 3 other people and then if he did well enough there, got to sing in front of Paula, Randy and Simon. But he also couldn't give me any other information on how his audition with the producers went, if he made it to the judges or even Hollywood. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for him. :D
