PNM - Town Hall Invitational Tea

Hi Everyone!

In about a week, I am attending a Beta Sigma Phi Town Hall Invitational Tea to meet chapters in my area. I have also been invited to a meeting of one of the chapters before the Innovational Tea's to get to know the members.

My question is, what can I expect from the Town Hall Tea? I was Greek in College, so can I expect something similar to COB events or is it more formal?

After, what is the process from the tea to a bid for BSP chapters?

Thanks for your help!

Nicole

Nicole,
Congratulations on taking steps toward membership in Beta Sigma Phi. Every chapter and every city council is different, so I'm not certain what you can expect from the tea. I would imagine that it will be more formal than simply attending a chapter meeting. It sounds like the area chapters might be doing a combined rush. This is common for communities with multiple chapters. In my experience, Beta Sigma Phi is generally less formal than traditional collegiate-based Greek organizations. That being said, the path to a bid is not uniform among all BSP chapters. Instead, each chapter designs its own membership selection process based on their membership's needs. Typically, a chapter will want to meet with you a couple of times before voting on you as a membership candidate.

Good luck!
Erica

Hi everyone, thought I would give a quick update.

I didn't go to the Town Hall Invitational tea. I made plans with a chapter to go to dinner but that fell though. Tonight I am meeting with a career chapter with ladies my age and that live VERY close to me. Its their monthly meeting, and I look forward to meeting everyone tonight. ;)
