sorry to crash but your rings are gorgeous

SWTXBelle 10-01-2007 07:39 PM

Thanks - I really love being able to wear our beautiful badge more often. I will say that the ring is currently at the jeweler's because the clasp caught on something. Gotta be more careful . . .

The badge ring looks fabulous! I've always wanted to see an up-close picture of one. Hmm...now *I* want one!

Also, where did you find the crest ring with the pearls? It's very pretty!

SWTXBelle 10-05-2007 05:16 PM

The crest ring is Balfour - I got it in 1986, so I don't know if they still sell it . I don't like the Herff-Jones rings as much, I have to say. Check out e-bay - I have seen the same ring for sale there a few times.
If you do get the badge ring - do send your badge in to get it custom fitted. I didn't, and had to have the local jeweler adjust it. He nicked the enamel on the badge (!). But I do love the way it finally came out.

Are you able to take the badge off and still wear it in the traditional way, or does it always stay on the ring?

Just wondering...

If you get the "pin on" badge ring it's not permanently attached.
I had mine made into a permanent ring with a 14K band by a local jeweler. I wear it more than if it was still a pin, but I miss wearing it with my guard and all the dangles! maybe I'll buy myself another one someday...I'm totally jealous of SmartBlondeGPhiB's all sapphire stunner.....

Ooooooo, I'd like to see a picture of that !

By the way, I guess I should introduce myself. I've been lurking for a while, but I'm in the process of going AI with Gamma Phi Beta.

Technically the badge can be removed - but when the clasp caught on something and was torn off (!!) I just went ahead and had the local jeweler permanently attach it.
I'd love to see SmartGPhiB's badge, too. (hint, hint)

Happy to report - my mother has received her badge ring (which I gave her at Christmas - she had to send in the badge to be placed in the ring) and she loves it!
Maybe we can start a Gamma Phi fad!

As an AI from 2005, welcome to the sisterhood! When and where are you going to be initiated?

I am thinking about having my "spare" badge made into a ring, as well. Last year I misplaced my white gold/garnet Phi badge, so I purchased a sterling silver replacement from IH. A week after the new badge arrived, I found my old badge hooked onto a sweater I don't even remember wearing!

I'd love to be able to wear my badge more and a ring is perfect!
