VH1 Boycott: Network targeted for its negative portrayal of black women
http://www.eurweb.com/story/eur36441.cfm
An employee of the network leaked information about a production meeting regarding a potential new show titled “Interracial Love.” According to the employee, network execs passed on the idea because it would feature professional black women who choose to look beyond race to find true love. The images would be in direct contrast to those shown on such shows as “Flavor of Love” and its spawns “I Love New York” and “Flavor of Love: Charm School.” In a letter written to Black Press Radio, the employee shared what she was told went down behind closed doors in a meeting about the show. According to the employee, the exec said: “It is our thoughts that the viewers are more interested in seeing black people in a ghetto role. This show will not sell.” |
So it's the network portraying black women negatively.........not the actual women themselves?
.........and for the record, I thought the biggest skank whore bag of them all was that blonde on charm school. |
This is going to be another one of those GC heated discussions.

Keeping in mind that this information came from word-of-mouth, I'll take it with a grain of salt.
That said, given the description of the show, I wonder if management felt it might upset the black community (and others) to have professional black women purposely dating men outside of their ethnicity because black men aren't "good enough"? |
No. They probably felt like professional African American women on television are *yawn* boring. :smirk:
|
They'd probably end up picking someone like Omarosa.
