MOSCOW (Reuters) - A wealthy Russian tried to buy a U.S. B-52 bomber from a group of shocked American pilots at an airshow near Moscow, a Russian newspaper reported Friday.
The unidentified Russian, wearing sunglasses and surrounded by bodyguards, approached the U.S. delegation and asked to buy the bomber, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper said.

Funny, The dude who played Rockford has a B-25 as a privat plain in a movie, it looked sweet!

John Travolta has a BIG Jet that he flies. Wow. I wish I could do that!:D

Actually I have been aboard both of those plains and they are lot smaller than a 737.

There was a war-bird show at my local county airport this week:
B-24,B-25, and a B-17.
Just how 10 men, with heavy over garments and flack jackets moved around in a B-17 is way beyond me.
A B-52 is huge. So big that several years ago when the Air Museum at King County Airport (A/K/A Boeing Field) had a show with the last one ever build, the air traffic controllers at Sea-Tac Airport would not permit it to do a fly by within their controlled space.

So they just over flew the U.S.S. Missouri as it was pulling into Puget Sound.

However buying one just does not seem right at all.

There is a B-52 on pylons at a highway intersection on the US Air Force Academy. I've stopped to look at it a number of times. It saw its last service in Vietnam and actually shot down a Mig with its tail guns, I guess. I think it may be the only one to ever have done that.

When we were in Seattle in June, we toured the museum Boeing. My wife's late uncle was a big time Boeing engineer on the Apollo project and early space shuttle missions.

A new Apollo area was about to open, and when she told one of the docents about her uncle, they allowed us into the project while still under construction.

The museum is pretty neat. I particularly enjoyed going through the old SST.
