majors

Ok, i was wondering. How did everyone decide on a major. Cause I am having major problems trying to figure out what i want to do with the rest of my life.. I am a freshman ( soon to be sophmore) and every one asks me what my major is.. And i tell them I dont know.
Is this normal, do all college students go trough this? or is it just me? I am quite worried. I know the things i suck at math and history. So i know i won't be doing anythig in that field..

Alrighty take care, thanks
me

There is already a thread about majors, i know because i started it. You might get more replies if you ask it there. Plus, you can see what other people are majoring in and if it sparks an interest for you then you might want to personally ask them about it.

Hey there. Yes, it is VERY Normal to not know what to major in. You are only a freshman/soon to be incoming soph. Most ppl don't declare until they are juniors. However, many who have declared before jr. year have changed their majors multiple times. So it is actually better if you don't know yet, b/c that is what frosh/soph yrs. are about. Taking those GEs and determining/narrowing down what interests you.

Well, have you taken a class(es) that has totally intrigued/interested you like no other? I am/was (I'm graduating in a few days) a Sociology major. You say that you don't like math and history...that's fine...but what DO you like? There is such a vast array of fields out there..you're bound to find one that totally intrigues you!

Have you visited a Career Counselor yet? They are there to assist students in finding majors, jobs, etc...if you have not yet talked with one, you should! They are very helpful...

Hope this helps, good luck! Jacqueline

OMG! Where have you been? We even had the GC Omega ceremony for you! Were gonna have to print a retraction in our newsletter. You are gonna have a lot of reading to catch up on. Got a bout three weeks of reading by my guess.

I seem to be part of the minority of University students who knew what they were gonna major in - when they were in high school! I have always had a weird facination with politics so when I took political science in high school, I knew that that was going to be my major in school!
But people have different ways of working out what they want, and think about it - when I entered university I was 17, how many people at 17 or 18 know what they want to do for the rest of their lives?!?! My mother quit her job and went back to school at 40 to become a chef! One of my sisters choose her major depending on what class she did the best in in first year!
Whatever you do - make sure you are happy doing it, b/c that is what is important! To sound cheesy as hell - "Happiness is your major of life!"
