Curious about Recruitment...
 

So, to clarify my subject, I am considering going through the exciting Recruitment! I am just looking for opinions-- anything will be swell! I will be classified as a Senior, but will most likely stay an extra year to pursue a minor. I went through Recruitment sophomore year but it did not go as I had planned. My school has about 1000 students, and only two sororities with 50 girls in each. I made it to the Pref Day of one of the two, and was expecting a bid as my school is so small, but the numbers didn't match, and I did not recieve a bid. Since then, I have considered it but not heavily. Recently, I have had about three girls ask me if I was going to go through this year, from both sororities. This did not happen last year. With my last, or second to last year, I am really determined to go through Recruitment, but curious of a second opinion... should I go for it? speak the truth!

I would think at such a small school you may have a shot at getting a bid despite your senior status...especially if you explain that to the chapters/have your rec writers include it (if you get recs). I know some may disagree, but I have known girls who pledged their junior or senior-with-a-year-and-a-half-to-go year and still got an AMAZING experience out of sorority membership. You just have to ask yourself whether you think it would be worth the financial and time commitment you would be binding yourself to for just one to two years of collegiate experience--the lifelong alumnae membership notwithstanding. Generally, one's senior year can be their most time-constraining academically and you would be incorporating new member classes, chapter meetings, required events, etc. into the mix, so you will just have to evaluate those things and come to the conclusion that is best for you. Best of luck with recruitment, Irene. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you your sophomore year, but don't be put off about trying again. If it works out, you'll have an experience that will continue a lifetime. If it doesn't, you'll have your senior year to try what ever else on campus you've always wanted to do. Sounds like you're ready for the challenge!:)
