You Know You Live in a College Town When...

You know you live in a college town when...

- during the first two weeks and two weeks after move-in the city runs their garbage crews every other day, rather than once a week

- wal mart has every item you'd ever need for a dorm room out in the garden center, but nothing you'd ever use in an apartment

- the town's population rises by 60% when school starts

- the old people start complaining in June about how those "loud kids" will be back soon

- you see someone with another school's emblem on and know they're not from here

- there's already rumors floating around the town about which greek is going to get kicked off campus this year

During Saturdays in the Fall you put up your sign in the front yard: "PULL IN, $10 PARKING".

the campus shuttle route has a stop at your condo building.

everyone in your building is connected to the university (retired professors, students with deep pockets, admin, etc).

You know people who went to elementary school, junior high, high school, and college within 10 miles of each other.

You know a person who's lived in the same town all his life and he got a PhD without ever having to leave.

Stepping into room...hello.

College town, signs posted by merchants: welcome back bulldogs.:)

Lots of bewildered parents driving around with vehicles loaded with Jr or Princess' crap looking for the right building.

Long lines at the bank to set up the "joint account" for Jr or Princess "bail me out of trouble" funds.

well those two pop out at me...

- You can get a Steak Dinner and a Bucket of beers for $11.
- There are seven different bars and each has a college night on a different day of the week
- All of the bars in town sell tall cans.
- All of the garages have pool tables but people still play to pay at the local bar.
- It isn't unusual to see people walking down the street at 5am with there clothes on inside out.
- During Greek Week the bars are all empty, and every fraternity guy is limping around town as if they had no Knees.

- Gameday (sat) there are beer troughs on all the corners near campus (Norman, Oklahoma).
- Around the end of August the number of ridiculously good looking women in town grows exponentially.

-When Spring semester is over it is a total ghost town.

This thread was stickied at the bottom of another recent thread, so I'll respond:

I know I live in a college town because: a large swarm of students walking across the whole sidewalk toward me to get downtown still has only one or two students who wear a mask. This is when I'm only too happy to be wearing a mask outdoors, because there's a second student swarm on the opposite sidewalk...they're sometimes unavoidable!

A few years ago, Pokemon GO was extremely popular on the campus for groups of people of all ages, so driving on/near campus without hitting someone deeply involved in that pastime was a real challenge.

The local newspapers and merchant mailers are FILLED with coupons and handouts for pizza, wings, subs, fast food, etc. This begins in August and ends in June!
