junior rushing at UC schools
hey everyone, ex lurker here. i am going to be transferring to uc berkeley in less than a month (!!!) and im considering going through rush. i have read a lot and learned a lot, but i was wondering if there was anyone here who knew about berkeley, or any of the other uc schools specifically. i am going into recruitment with an open mind, but was wondering if anyone knew which sororities, if any, take a harsher stance with juniors/junior transfers. i do know that they do not have an upperclassman quota, though. how much would that work in my favor?

I was a DG adviser at UC Berkeley from 2000 through 2006. Some years Cal would try having Juniors as "free" and other years they counted towards quota. I am not involved this year, so I am not sure what is happening this fall.
Either way, many houses take juniors; however, if juniors are free you have a better chance at almost every house (some almost never take juniors). Let me know if you have any more Cal questions and I will do my best to answer them. |
Thanks! I PMed you. I would love to hear more from anyone!

There was a post in the last month or so about juniors rushing at UC schools. The consensus was that they generally don't have issues. We pledged a lot of juniors when I was in school. Yes, some chapters may focus on freshmen but that can change from year to year. Good luck with recruitment!

Here's the thread she was talking about that asked the same question about juniors at UC schools:

great, thanks! There doesn't seem to be too much CA stuff on the boards, so that is really helpful.
