Is there any right time to attend informational meetings?
I know that most organizations will not take you until the spring of your freshmen year, and most take you in your sophmore year. Is there any point in attending if you cant be recruited in your freshmen year?

Different organizations "take" you at different times during the year, depending on the school. If you are at a school where the organizations only take you during the Spring, the best reason to attend the information sessions is to get to know the members so that when they can "take" you (remember, they choose, YOU don't), you will know many of the members and know more about the group itself.

I get the feeling that you're interested in an NPHC sorority.
That being said, I suggest you visit your sorority of interest's forum and pay attention to the 'stickied' posts. It'll guide you to the proper direction as far as membership goes. |
How could you tell. Thanx!

That said...just because you're not posting in a spesific NPHC's forum, doesn't mean those rules don't still apply. |
In addition to paying attention to the stickies in the threads, you should definetely go to their National website. They may not answer your question specifically, but you will find their requirements for membership and be able to answer your own question. (I.e. For org XYZ, you must be a sophomore with a 3.0 GPA, etc...).
