Concentration of Chapters

Within a 6 hour drive (65 MPH) how many chapters can you visit (not in one 6 hour period of course):

Cal State San Bernardino
Cal Poly Pomona
Cal State Fullerton
UC Irvine
University of Southern California
UC Los Angeles
UC San Diego
San Diego State
Pepperdine
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
US Santa Barbara
Arizona State
University of Arizona
Fresno State
Northern Arizona University

(There are numerous additional chapters within a 10 hour drive, including the bay area chapters, Reno and Chico)

What about Stanford?

I would think they would be considered a Bay Area Chapter. It would be about a 6 Hour 35 Min drive to their house.

That is a ton of chapters. I wonder how many are in Indiana. Or Alabama for that matter.

There are ton of chapters in Texas.

Within 1 hour of us are both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Boeyond that, you have to look to Texas, Kansas, Missouri or Arkansas.

We really never did anything with anyone but Oklahoma State or Oklahoma.

I know about 4 years ago I heard rumors out of nationals: That we were going to be doing regional colonies. These colonies (4-5 Campuses) would share resources such as LEAD, Candidate Programs, By-Laws, etc... They would work together as a large group then when they were ready to be chartered they would split into their individual chapters and become a new division. I heard the Greater Chicago region was going to be the first. Has anyone else heard about this.

Having gone through the colonization process myself, that would be an awesome idea. The two active chapters (Delta Epsilon and Epsilon Epsilon) were indispensable to us. It would have been fantastic to have other colonies around us. Colonizing entire metro areas? Great idea.

Well, I suppose since we're right in the middle of the state all of the Florida chapters are within 6 hour driving distance. We've sort of become the preferred chapter to conduct ritual for new colonies in Florida. We installed both Mu Psi (UCF) and Epsilon Zeta (UF) in the past two years.

We're thinking of trying to organize a "Sigma Nu Florida" event to get all the brothers in Florida together for some fun.

^^^ that sounds awesome.

There is a Los Angeles area Alumni Group just starting up. I haven't got involved yet but I had some ideas that would benefit the active chapters.

- An annual Networking Luncheons for Alumni, Seniors and Juniors. This will allow the local Alumni to scout out future employees and allow the Actives to see what being involved as an Alumni has to offer and give them a chance to talk to older more experienced members.

-Annual Alumni Golf Tourney open to all Sigma Nus hosted by the Alumni Chapter and proceeds to benefit a choosen charity.

We were the chapter that hosted the recolonization at Cal State Northridge I served as the Commander and one of my Bros was the Lt. Commander . The honor was one that I hold up there with being Commander of my own chapter. It was amazing...
