A Day in the Life of a PNM

I've been reading around here a lot since I've decided to rush. I've gotten some much wonderful advice, so I've decided to do as ClassicBeauty is doing and post my recruitment story as it happens.

I'm a sophmore at a Texas school with a not-so-competitive rush. Although, I've always wanted to join a sorority, I didn't my freshman year so I could get adjusted to college life. Also, it's a lifetime commitment, so I wanted to make sure it was what I wanted to do. Here's the chapters at my school (named after my favorite thing, purses :)):

Coach - I really like their philanthrophy and had a class with one girl. She is the sweetest ever and really loved her sorority. My dad's girlfriend was a Coach at a different school, so I have a handful of personal rec's. As much, as I want to keep an open mind, I really love this group. All the girls are really down to earth and seem like the kind that I would be life-long friends with.

Burberry - I don't know anyone personally from here, but they are some very classy girls. I have 2 rec's from alumnae. All of them are very involved in campus activities and are very well put together. They are definitely some girls that I would be proud to call my sisters, although they are a little intiminating.

Kate Spade - I went to high school with 3 of the girls from here. One of them I worked with also, and we studied at the house a lot last year. So I've met a bunch of the girls. They are extremely sweet, witty and funny. To me, it seems like I wouldn't be the best friends with some of the girls outside the sorority.

Dooney & Burke - I went to high school with one of the girls, and honestly, I can't stand here. But I'm not going to judge the whole sorority on one girl. They all seem to love eachother a lot and genuinely care for one another. That's really nice to see. Other than that, I don't know a lot about this sorority.

Rush starts next Saturday. I've had my rec's done and my clothes are all picked out. So now, all I have to do is wait, which is really hard! I'm really excited. I love meeting new people and doing the whole akward-chat thing, so I'm really not that nervous. I really want to keep an open mind about each group, but it's hard when I've already been on campus a year. I just want to find my match made in sorority-heaven. ;)

I'll type more next week. Thanks!

I've never gone through rush or experienced greek life at another campus, so I'm not completely sure. That's what it seems like, especially reading about SEC recruitments. Those sound terrrifying.

Oh yeah....Whenever I think of Texas rush, I don't think of a competitive rush. Of course, I don't attend UT-Austin or A&M, but at some other schools it isn't competitive.

Oh they definitely exist, I can think of at least 4 off the top of my head that fit that bill. Just because a school is in the south doesn't mean it's cut throat, just like some school in the north could have a very competitive rush!
