I don't get to see movies in the theaters too much, but I loved Waitress. Ocean's 13 was better than I thought it'd be, and Knocked Up was great too.

Your overhyped list is DEAD ON although I did not see Shrek 3. All those movies were supposed to be the hotness and all failed miserably.

Spiderman: The dancing? WTF
Harry Potter:McMovie (too much important stuff left out; no point to all the events that occured by the end with the exception of minimal self-discovery and a totally confusing death)

POTCAWE: WTF? I don't even know where to begin! It started out good and then just crapped on itself by the end.

You didn't see the Simpsons? While it slowed down after they left Springfield (bad idea the Simpsons revolve around Springfield) it was still hilariously satisfying. We have to go see it again because people were laughing so hard we couldn't hear!

Going to see it this weekend when the crowd has died down....

Hairspray - Sucked. John Travolta - wth did he get that accent??

The last song went on way too long. Yeah, we get it, you can't stop the beat and this song is proving that fact.

Why do screenwriters feel the compulsive need to take a television show, rewrite it for the big screen and then totally change the premise of the story????? The reason the show is a hit is because of all the things you changed, you pretentious freak of nature!!!! This from a writer *shrug*

I enjoyed HP but I agree it left a lot out. And talk about rooting for the bad guy, I had to literally bite my tongue to keep from squealing with delight at Helena Bonham Carter's electro-shock hair.

I liked 1408 but hated the ending. I have to go back and re-read the story because I don't remember hating the ending that badly.

I'm half tempted to check out I Know Who Killed Me because it looks like it has potential for a decent mind f**k although I have little faith in Lohan's ability to pull off such a feat. :(

As for those movies we can't wait for in the upcoming months....

SWEENEY TODD!!! (kind of a big fan of HBC, me thinks)
Rob Zombie's Halloween weeeeeee
Fred Claus looks pretty freaking hilarious and definitely qualifies as mindless entertainment.
Pathology (because it was totally creepy how I had just finished telling someone I wanted to see Milo Ventimiglia in a serious thriller and then not ten minutes later I'm cruising around Rotten Tomatoes and BOOM there's Milo in a serious thriller due out November 27...now there's something to be thankful for *giggle*)
And that about sums it up.

I have a better question...why are they taking every last franchise from my childhood and making them into live action flicks?

coming up are

Thundercats
Voltron
GI Joe

Somebody please make it stop!!!

If they decide to do a live action Johnny Quest I will be done!

nikki1920 08-02-2007 10:23 AM

WHEN are they doing Voltron? GI Joe?

Voltron - http://imdb.com/title/tt0472429/

GI Joe is 2010

So...when are they going to do Jem? If they do Punky Bewster though, they've crossed the line. Honestly they are neglecting my childhood faves cos I have never watched an episode of Transformers in my life and the movie was my first intro to it.

(I'm still waiting for the Bumblebee Camaro to become more than just a 'concept car' so I can buy it! I fell in love! They better do it too!!!! )

I LOVED "Knocked Up." It was flipping hilarious. I had tears rolling down my face at one point.

agree, Hairspray was soo bad, it left me with a bad headache.
and also agree, as it was bad, Evan Almighty. I took the 7 year old son of a neighbor, I stood in for a babysitter who got sick. he gave it a "thumbs down."

I FINALLY just watched Micheal Moore's Sicko, and it was such a great movie.
everyone should see it.
no matter what you think of him, you can't deny the truth.
