Belle's Rush Thread
I am going to start a thread for a dear friend's daughter. She will be rushing in 2 weeks! She is attending a southern school with a competitive rush. There has been NO pre-rushing this summer, they are very strict with the silence rules. I am going to call the lovely girl Belle.
Belle is a beautiful girl (a knockout, according to my son!), she has a good hs GPA, and has many leadership positions and activities from hs. I can tell you that honestly, she is as beautiful on the inside as the outside and her sweetness and vivaciousness are apparent. So, you would think that she will have a good rush:). But, she and her mom are worried and nervous because of the competitiveness of the school. She is certainly not one of those over confident rushees! All that being said, she has a family member who is a recent alum of one of the chapters who is reportedly helping out at rush. She also knows a number of girls who are current members from her hs. So, those things may help her. (Fingers crossed) She and her mom have been shopping like crazy and feel really good about their acquisitions. She has some really great sundresses, shoes and accessories. She also has a particularly beautiful piece of jewelry that she is planning on wearing throughout rush (not something outrageous); just something that will look really pretty with her outfits and may catch a rusher's eye and be remembered. There are essentially 11 sororities that she will be rushing. I will come up with code names later.. That's all for now. |
Given that you are calling her Belle, you can use names from Beauty and the Beast... LOL.
Lumiere, Gaston, etc. |
Yay! I can't wait to hear about her rush!

I'll buy a subscription to this thread! Oh, wait, it's free -- even better. Can't wait to hear -- I wish her the very best!

Here's wishing your southern "Belle" all the best during recruitment!!

Sounds good! For just a moment, I thought this was for BBelle, but Belles will be Belles! I hope she has a happy, low stress R!!
|
Fingers crossed - we "belles" have to stick together!
|
Good luck Belle!

One other neat thing about this girl is that she truly has no preconceived notions before going into rush. Despite the fact that she has a somewhat distant family member who is a recent alum of the school, she doesn't really know that much about greek life. No one in her immediate family has ever been involved. She is going into it for friendship and sisterhood, not status or elitism, so it should be a really wide open rush experience. I am excited to hear of her impressions of rush. It is pretty intimidating (and impressive) when the chapters come rushing out singing and shouting! I've tried to prepare her, but as we all know, no amount of talking about it compares to the reality! |
Good luck from one Belle to another!
I particularly like this statement: Quote:

Good Luck to Belle! :)

Adding her to the list

Good luck to Belle in her recruitment

Small update - I went over to her house this weekend to get the pre-rush fashion show. She has some really cute outfits complete with shoes and accessories. I passed along the, "wear the shoes to break them in before hand," advice, something she hadn't thought of.
She and her mom are really nervous! It is so much fun being around them and seeing their excitement. Having boys, sorority rush is something I'll never have to/be able to live through, so I am experiencing this vicariously through them:) We talked about the different days and how it is structured. I kind of tried to tell her what to expect, but it has been a long time since I went through so my information may be outdated. I've passed on a ton of good advice from Greek Chat, so thanks to all of you experts! I haven't decided if I will assign code names to the different sororities on campus because I don't know how detailed my descriptions will be. I may just get an overview of each day, so will play it by ear. 9 days and counting! |
