Local Philanthropy
 

What kind of philanthropies are you guys doing? The local im in focuses on improving the community in which our organization is founded. We work closely with the PhilaCare organization. I was just wondering what things everyone else was into

We're doing breast cancer awareness. A member also brought up starting a Girl Scout troop and running that for the girls in the area. So, we need to find out more about doing that! :)

We do Relay For Life, which is an event at WashU sponsored by the American Cancer Society (they have Relay elsewhere too). Our main philanthropy, however, is MS awareness - we raise money for and participate in the St. Louis MS Walk every spring.

This October, Zeta Xi Delta local sorority will be participating in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. We have been having a hard time getting people to donate to this wonderful cause, so I decided to post a link to our page on GreekChat. ours is the SOS crisis center which is a local safehouse for women and children who need to get out of bad situations at home. we donate money, toiletries, clothing, and holiday gifts to them.

We're doing Relay for Life too. We did it last year and it was a lot of fun. Our main philanthropy is anything having to do with women's/children's issues. Domestic violence, breast cancer etc. We're also about to do a Holiday Toy Drive for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for the kids there, as well as Ronald McDonald House. What can I say, I love the kids!
