You Tube "Slams"

I recently viewed a couple of videos created by a some OTHER fraternities on the popular website “you tube” mocking some unflattering (to say the least) stereotypes of other organizations. I know that so called “greek dissing” is practiced by all of the fraternities and sororities but where do we draw the line? There are also some probate shows on the site and I could not believe the language that these young men were using in the name of their organizations. I lost count on how many times I heard the words bi—h and f—ck used by these young COLLEGE EDUCATED men. I know that the rivalry among organizations is part of the tradition but again…….I ask……….where do we draw the line? And further, why in the world is this nonsne being posted on the internet for the world to see? Is this the direction that greek life is heading?

If it's other organizations, let them deal with it.

If it's us, talk to the advisor. Don't TELL the advisor what to do. Tell the advisor how it makes YOU feel.

I think in my four years, four months as an Alpha, what irritates me most is when Brothers talk at you and not with you. Yes, every brother is entitled to an opinion, but there are also protocols to be followed and courtesies to be extended.

So if we see brothers having neophyte presentations with conduct that isn't becoming of the organization -- don't go into General President mode and take it upon yourself to post a comment. Be silent.... take the extra step to find out who the advisor is. Email him. Politely introduce yourself and notify him of the concern. Tell him how it makes you feel. Then let it go.

The college brothers don't need to feel attacked just because they made a mistake. And even if the mistake is egregious, then let the punishment be from the appropriate officials -- punishment through ostracization doesn't help the brotherhood.

Orlando? But of course. I'll be there on that Friday which I believe is the 10th.

One of my LSs was telling me about hearing women cursing while they were strolling (it was another organization, so not really much we could do or say).

Now I am a neo, but even to me that is a bad look. There was a time when that sort of thing would not be associated with any of our organizations, and now it is a part of the presentations, strolling...I don't think the foul language has made it into step shows yet.

I agree with Senusret, let other organizations handle their business and do what we can to combat such problems in our own organizations. Certainly, most organizations should view this sort of representation as a problem.
