Oscar the cat predicts patients' deaths

I hope they get Oscar to either train other cats, or is able to show a scientific reason why he has such a good success rate!

Oscar the cat predicts patients' deaths

Spending more time than I'd like to in nursing homes, I have noticed that some animals do have the ability to sense sickness or declining health. I will never understand the homes that won't allow therapy dogs in to visit!

everyone in my office was talking about this today... pretty interesting.

The thing about dogs is true. In fact, the mother of a former client of our firm who died after having a seizure in a pool (she was the mother in a heated custody dispute) has set up a foundation to help train those dogs.

I think that is really interesting- especially since the cat if fairly anti-social the rest of the time. However as the Mommy to three cats, I know they can tell when someone doesn't feel well.

I have one cat that never left my side when I had horrible morning sickness- he even followed me into the bathroom. I've heard of dogs doing the same thing.

What intrigues me is that, if one of us lies down when feeling sick, our dog will curl up right smack up against wherever the sickie is hurting. I'd love to know more about the phenomenon

My dog does the same. Normally she is quite active and loves to run and play, but if one of us is sick, she will curl up to you and sleep all day (not even scratching at the door to go out). Pretty amazing!
