15 pearls/diamonds?

I was wondering if there was a significance to there being 15 pearls or diamonds on the quill or if that’s just what fits. I would have thought there would be 10- one for each founder. Any guesses or answers?

I've never come across a meaning behind the number of pearls (or for the lucky girl, diamonds) that adorn our Quills. Maybe it's just that is the number that fit in the space. The 20 pearls a beautiful!
