long shot -- update

Earlier this month, I posted this:

Hello all,

I am participating in recruitment this fall at the University of Alabama. My mother nor any family members have been in sororities, so I am relying on personal connections and my mom's friends who were Greek to help with recs. It is my goal to get a rec from every NPC sorority on campus. That being said, there is no local Panhellenic Association in my area. I was wondering if anyone could help me with networking and put me in touch with Alumnae here in Birmingham, AL.

Thanks in advance,

Kim

Well, I am happy to report after working with a very connected Chi O alum in my community, I was able to secure at least one rec to 12 out of the 15 NPC sororities at the University of Alabama. I am looking fwd to rush, appreciate all of your suggestions, and look forward to updating you all again after!

Good job. See, girls need to take note that you just have really work at it and you can locate alumnae and recs.

If I remember properly, a woman from the DC area without any family greek connections, told her recruitment story last year, and came away with a very nice bid! *leaving an opening large enough for someone to drive a car through!*

Please don't feel that you're out of the ballgame before it's started! Good recs and presenting yourself well can work just as well as being a legacy.

i am so happy to hear of your success! it just goes to show you, that working hard to find one connection where recommendations are concerned, can be the jackpot.

the best of luck to you! please let us know how things turn out.

As a reader of the father of a daughter who's in a sorority at Alabama, I have no clue what you're talking about honeychile!
