Web sites and Recruitment
Just a caution to all collegiate chapters- If you have a chapter web site, keep it up-to-date. As my daughter went through recruitment and now my niece, a web site that is two years old or even a year old, does not portray a positive image!! Just something else for recruitment chairs to stress over- but something I feel is important!!

AGREE!! I hate it when I'm trying to find something out about a chapter and the web site hasn't been updated in forever ... I'd rather there be no website or a pointer to the national website than an out of date one.

I'm helping out my local chapter (and my chapter) as PR Advisor and that is one thing I am planning to have updated. They use facebook & myspace but those just aren't "professional" (for lack of a better word) to me.
|
Never underestimate the power of myspace and facebook though! It's total popculture...and incoming freshman dig it. My chapter has a website, but also a myspace page as well, and we've had 14 PNMs express interest through our myspace profile.
However - a kick-@$$ regular website is a definite must. Especially for tech savy PNMs who are going to do their research. |
I agree that Myspace & Facebook are big and will be utilized but sometimes a website that doesn't have the "canned" format (for lack of a better work) can help out as well

can all of you please check out my website for my chapter at www.ilovealphaxidelta.com please tell me what you think...iv been working really hard on it!

your site looks great!
hey in case you didn't know my company offers webhosting to all Alpha Xi chapters & alumnae associations, free for the first year and $50 a year after that. not sure what you are paying but an FYI for you. Here is the link from FH's website http://www.alphaxidelta.org/vendors_benefits.asp |
I love it! I did my chapters website (www.unlvaxid.com shamless plug!) and I can appreciate how hard it is to design and maintain. I love the calendar you have set up- how did you do it/what code did you use?
