Trainings you would like to see/have

Since we've touched upon this subject in the convention thread Ithought it deserved it's own thread. Who knows we could come up with a really good list and give it to TPTB (he he I love that term).

1) Philantropy-not just saying "here is RMH" "here is Lions Share" but actually meeting with other philanthropy chairs (via alum associations and even collegians) and talking about philanthropy. The whole 9 yards. The seminar at convention was definately interesting but it was only an hour long.

Ideas?

I thought of this thread last night as I was cleaning out my planner and came across a business card from a trainer that I once met. At work, we are required to take a Public and Motivational Speaking training course. I thought it would be silly but it was one of the best training classes I ever took. I actually had lunch with the trainer one of the days and talked about some of the struggles I've had with the chapter I advise, especially when it comes to motivating them to accept responsibility for their actions...be it grades, behavioral, etc. He gave me some great tips which I still use with the women. I passed his name on to my DTD and PD and strongly encouraged them to provide a similar type of training for advisors. The way I see it is that advisors come from all walks of life and ages and sometimes its hard to relate to the collegiates regardless of when we graduated or what type of sorority experience we had in college. I think it would be great if we could receive training on how to relate to the woman and conversely help them understand us.

The trainer actually is based out of Danvers and has frequently golfed at the hotel Convention was held this year. He actually told me that he would do the session for free since it was "in his backyard." I was bummed to see that they didnt take him up on his offer and that they have yet to consider this type of training.

I love HBADPi's idea! I was blessed with an officer (who's job has been phased out) who was a Motivational Speaker. She really gave me some great tips, and eased a lot of worries I had.
