Bound By A Mighty Vow

Hi,

I apologize for crashing your forum. I recently read Bound By a Might Vow, and while it was interesting to me as a member of another GLO, I think members of Kappa Alpha Theta would particularly be interested in it.

I tried to search your forum to see if you all had already discussed it, but I didn't see anything. It's about three years old, so I certainly think you all would know about it, but new members or new Greek Chat users might not. (It seems like something a GLO's magazine would mention, but I don't know if yours did.)

It's certainly not a beach read; it seems pretty academic and sociological, but it focuses on Theta as the primary example of the general trends in "Sisterhood and Women's Fraternities, 1870-1920" as the sub-title puts it.

It was written with the cooperation of Theta headquarters, and even when the writer addresses issue that are uncomfortable or controversial, it's very balanced. In fact, one of the things that I found most interesting is how early in our histories as GLOs the issues that seem to recur (and get discussed on GreekChat) actually had to be addressed by the groups.

Again, sorry for crashing with my book report, but I didn't want any Thetas to miss out. For me, it's be worth having a copy, if I were a Theta, just for the historic photographs alone.

Oh yes, we know!

I'm glad. I did try to figure that out first, but I can never get my search results to show anything that I'm looking for.

Is there a thread discussion? I'd love to read what you all thought.

Or is it more that you all heard more about it real life?

Our HQ posted on our website about it before it came out and again after it came out in our magazine.

I bought it last year and read it. I consider it part of my "Theta Library" collection.

That's wonderful! It makes perfect sense, and I should have assumed it. Surely Theta would want every member to know!
