Discretion

Greetings Everyone

I'm having problems with people on the net. I am on other message boards and I'm the same person across the board. Well on another board, someone from here joins the board and announces that she wants to be an AKA on there. If she's on this message board and there's a thread about talking about the do's and don'ts of aspirants on here, why wouldn't you use those same rules on other message boards? Duh, we're gonna react the same way! Well I guess she wasn't getting the answers that she wanted so she then starts to curse Sorors and others out on the board. Then she goes in my AKAversary thread and asks if I'm on this board(she names greekchat) and that she knows my linesister. At this point I'm steamed because if I wanted the board to know that I was on another board, let along the name of the board, I would have done so. I just want to know why not send me a private message?

People............please use discretion when asking people questions when it comes to being on multiple boards.

But you have the same screen name on both boards.....what's the problem?

icebrAKA 07-02-2007 10:58 AM

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only icebrAKA on the net. And like I said........if I wanted the other board to know that I was there I would have done so. Plus, don't curse my Sorors out!

I'm pretty sure you are, for GC, OO, PledgePark, and StopHazing all have profiles for an icebrAKA from the same city, and no other hits come up on google.

Anyway.... the prevailing notion on GC is that if you have drama from another board, leave it on the other board.

Soror, I would have to agree with the above statement by Senusret. If you use the same username on various messageboards, then how do you expect to be "anonymous"? Don't sweat it.

A better question is who is this chick professing her aspirations? You can PM me if you like....

Not necessarily.

Starting this thread is bringing more attention to something that could've just been ignored.

She doesn't owe you anything.

Huh?

Whatever the case, you probably could've just offered this advice without discussing the specific incident.

Thats cool with leaving it there. You need to understand that people will react differently regardless if I'm every icebraka on everyone or not. I guess people have enough time to do that research to see if someone is the same on each and every board.

That doesn't need announcing, either. ;)

Like Soror Redefined, I am wondering who this young lady is that is potentially ruining her quest with such indiscrete actions on a messageboard. We all know how small the greek world is.

I think that this is a good discretionary caution, because aspirants never know who they are talking to, whether that person is on another messageboard, or whether, through a series of indiscretions, they are revealing exactly who they are and what they are about.

Soror Ice-

So what, you use the same handle. A lot of people do, who can remember all their own handles? Better yet, all the line names given to me--that's another story

You have to suck this one up as an experience with a harried interest. Interests that broadcast their intentions publically are a nuisance and an eyesore.

When you encounter them, you have to "deal" with them appropriately. Usually in the manner of knowing what your documents say. How are they going to argue our CB and MOSP's? Really? When I say stating them, I mean, Article III, Section 12, New Membership Undergraduate, clearly states, etc...

Moreover, you have to ALWAYS display what is becoming of an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. woman. ALWAYS. Your "Net presence" is "nettiquitte". Protocol is always in effect.

I would let her lie on the other board. Eventually she will tire herself out. And I would like to know who she is and where the board is because if she enjoys confrontation, she will be dealing with a nearly 20 year senior member who actually has dined with the several Supremes at the house...

I think this is bothering you more so than an interest with questions regarding membership, etc. Am I right?

I had an experience on a message board totally unrelated to greek life. I think because I posted my picture on 2 different forums, this person got comfortable enough to call me out of my name on one board in reference to something else I stand for on another. Well, I let him have it right there without sending him a pm. I think he got the message.

You should had kept it there and not bring it here.
