Marvel Comics buries Captain America

NEW YORK - It's a funeral fit for a superhero

In the drizzling rain at Arlington National Cemetery, thousands of grieving patriots solemnly watch as the pall bearers — Iron Man, the Black Panther, Ben Grimm and Ms. Marvel — carry a casket draped with an American flag.

Yes, folks, Captain America is dead and buried in the latest issue of Marvel Comics, due on newsstands the morning after Independence Day. After 66 years of battling villains from Adolf Hitler to the Red Skull, the red, white and blue leader of the Avengers was felled by an assassin's bullet on the steps of a New York federal courthouse.

Damn. I've known him since he was a corporal.

Who did he pissed off? I mean, he didh't get a promotion for the past 66 years or so? He should've been a general by now.

I wouldn't be surprised....

I stopped buying comics because it got too expensive and the stories got too convoluted....and then u had to buy too many titles to keep up

like: a story could start in amazing spiderman...but u had to pick up the web of spiderman to keep in line and then after that u may have to read a back story in x men to get the complete details only for the story to finish in peter parker the spectacular spider man.......grrrrr...

keep it simple people!

The X-Men titles are bad with that, especially in the 80s and 90s. The whole Phoenix saga thing pissed me off, too many title involves. Then there is the mutant slaughter thing.

They've done it before.

Also, back in the early 90's (I actually have/had most of that series if my parents haven't thrown it away), comics didn't have this major presence in the media due to their silver-screen success.

Or maybe this is my first stage of grief?
