Tip for new actives

If you're a newly initiated member of a fraternity here is a huge tip:

DON'T TRASH TALK OTHER FRATERNITIES. It'll bite you in the ass in the long run. Trust me. Especially if you're at a school where everyone snitches for the slightest IFC offenses.

Good advice Kyle.

Leave the trash talking to the more experienced members.

I keed.

No really though. I don't think new members realize they look like dumbasses when they try to hate on another sorority/fraternity when they have no clue what the history between your two orgs are. Plus it makes it look like you're being bred to hate the other during your new member period. I've seen it and it makes your org look stupid and petty.

I dont trash talk other fraternities, I just talk mine up a whole lot lol

Another point would be: You get as much out of ANY organization as you're willing to put into it. That would include griping.

It never ceases to amaze me with the infighting on campus while the Nationals work closely together for the betterment of all Greeks.

It is an unknown thing, but meany times there are members of different GLOs working in other GLOs HQs!

One of the newest is a LXA working in DTD HQ. He is not the first.

We as Greeks are mostly the minority on campus.

Look at the %s and that will tell your pretty darn quick!

I had friends in all GLOs when I was in school.

How about you?

Sit on a committee. You will learn more about how your org runs, and that gives you insight on the bigger things. This is a great way to build leadership skills.

Don't wear 8 pieces of para at a time.

And some advice a good friend gave me many years ago... "take half of what you want to say and keep your mouth shut". In other words, listen more and talk less.

Lastly, have fun! You did a lot of work to get where you are, and you know many people want to be in your place. Don't be a snob. Show everyone that being an XYZ is a fun part of your life (and rewarding).

Excellent advice!:D

If you work within your Fraternity/Sorority you will enjoy it more. If you enjoy it, then others will see how you feel and do things. They may then wonder what is so special about Your GLO and want to check it out!:)

If you bad mouth another GLO, that will just make others want to check them out!:(
